Natasha Bedingfield, Sydney Sweeney, and Glen Powell burst onto the People’s Choice Awards stage in 2024 to perform on song “Unwritten.”
Sweeney, 26, and Powell, 35, opened by alluding to their most recent romantic comedy, “Anyone But You”, while presenting the prize for female country musician. In the movie, Powell’s character Ben uses the 2004 song by Bedingfield to help him get over his fear of heights.
“You alright, Glen?” said Sweeney during the onstage segment. Powell said, “Yes, there are a lot of people here. I’m not sure, but I feel a little anxious”. “Do you want me to do that thing that calms you down?” inquired Sweeney. She got the crowd to start chanting “Unwritten.”
Powell remarked, “My serenity song is not going to help.” Powell remained unsettled even after Sweeney led the audience in yet another chorus. “All right, then let’s bring out the big guns,” she decided. Then, Bedingfield, 42, came out backstage to perform the famous song, with Powell, Sweeney, and the audience joining in.
Powell and Sweeney portray sworn foes whose friendship worsened due to a misunderstanding in the film Anyone But You. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the two wind themselves attending a destination wedding in Australia together and quickly become enamoured with one another.
Fans became more excited about the movie as soon as they noticed how well the actors clicked. In December, Sweeney told PEOPLE, “I mean, we sold a rom-com. We were just shooting an entertaining film.”
