Model and Recording Artist Kristina Menissov is coming into her own as both an artist and a woman. Her newest single to hit the streaming services is called “Potion” and it is about a woman learning about her own sexuality and the power it creates. A classically trained Opera singer, Kristina has taken that talent and turned it into an amazing music career. Through her music she is learning to express herself and break free of the traditional beliefs of her Middle Eastern upbringing. Her recent music has become a rally call for women everywhere to embrace their sexuality and independence to become more fulfilled and successful.

When did you first start making music?

I would say I started learning to write my own music around 2016, but finally felt confident enough to release my first single only in 2020.

What influences have inspired your sound the most?

Growing up. big artists like Alicia Keys, Whitney Houston, and Sade have built an incredible understanding about what good music is. I still listen to them to learn and explore their thought process for creating music. Lately Tyla’s music and Chloe Bailey empowerment actually do inspire me and make me want to create more.

Is there a constant meaning or message behind your music?

Right now, my two last singles “Crown” and “Potion” started a wave of accepting my own sexual energy and learning to use it. This exploration has impacted the rest of the songs I am cooking right now, so that will be the main message for the next five or six songs.

What advice would you give to new artists?

Don’t hold on to the content, release everything no matter of how imperfect it seems, because you’re going to grow, and your art is going to grow. The content that you’ve held onto is not going to be matching the future you and your future thoughts, so the energy will just go not used.

What has been your best moment as a musician so far?

Performing at Coachella Valley at the Summer of Love festival this past April.

What do you like most about playing music?

The freedom to share my thoughts, the ability to speak your mind. I can let all my personalities speak and give them their stage time, I can even transform into someone else for a day and that feels amazing.

What is the hardest part about being a musician?

The management of it, treating it like a business, because as artists we have our creative side of the brain more developed, so with the business side of it and the discipline I do struggle, I almost muscle myself into staying on track.
