Recording Artist Mila Nabours just released her newest single titled “Feel So Right”. The song is inspired by the excitement of meeting someone special that catches your eye and makes your heart beat a little faster. The upbeat track, which is streaming on all platforms, is sure to relate to her fans. Previously, Mila has released several singles as well as the EP “Vision” which included “Hypnosis”, “Catch Me”, and “New Moon”. She has also recorded a few movie soundtracks which are waiting on release dates and is scheduling several live performances to close out 2024. I caught up with Mila shortly after “Feel So Right” came out because I wanted to know a little more about this very talented young artist.
When did you first start making music?
I started making music during the beginning of the pandemic, when I was connected to my producer Andrew Lane. I wanted to start singing for a while prior to this, but when Covid hit I finally had the time. It is now one of my top priorities and I’m so happy to be putting out music.
What influences have inspired your sound the most?
A mix of different artists, from pop, indie, to R&B. I also get inspired lyrically by meaningful events and experiences in my life that I want to share, in which I feel people can relate to. I like my music to be expressive, but also interpretive so that my audience can take in any way that is personal to them. Some of my musical inspirations are The Weeknd, The Neighborhood, & Lizzy McAlpine. I love how they convey their emotions in such a creative and artistic way.
Is there a constant meaning or message behind your music?
They are different for every song. There are different stories, emotions and styles I try to present. I wouldn’t say there’s one constant meaning, but one constant goal I have is to keep my music genuine to how I feel and hope that my audience can relate to it in one way or another.
What advice would you give to new artists?
My biggest piece of advice would be to make sure you’re making music for the right reasons. Let your lyrics and sound come from a place that you feel fits your vibe, instead of trying to replicate anyone else. Having inspiration is one thing, (a good thing,) but trying to sound like someone or something that isn’t coming from a genuine place is another. This is something I myself try to shy away from.
What has been your best moment as a musician/band so far?
My favorite music moment so far has been performing in honor of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth at London Fashion Week. Although a solemn time, it was such an honor and an emotional performance.
What do you like most about playing music?
Music is my form of self-expression and emotional release, and I absolutely love being able to use my creative and artistic side to put my all into every song. I’m lucky to say that writing and recording music is 100% passion driven, and I love that I’m able to pursue it with the help of my incredible family & team.
What is the hardest part about being a musician?
The hardest part is honestly the process of coming up with how to be precise with my lyrics in a way that is direct without being too simple. I like my songs to have a sense of mystery to them, which allows the listener to really take in the meaning and think about how it speaks to them/ what it means to them.
