https://open.spotify.com/artist/6irdvlExGaCUOu9udjIF6vTHE CJ is a singer, artist, and musician from Great Falls, Montana. They hit the music scene strong last year, immediately charting and getting TV news attention with their single Don’t Lose Yourself. As of recently, THE CJ has been hard at work in the studio building a catalog of over 20 songs. “Wrong About Me” is their next single that just dropped. With a vibrant and daring blend of alternative rock and pop, along with motivational lyrical content, Wrong About Meemphasizes the importance of maintaining personal authenticity and acts as a musical beacon for self-love. This is just the first of many original singles THE CJ has in store for this year.
What is a spicy detail about “Wrong About Me” that you haven’t yet revealed to most people?
Wrong About Me is about an ex. For instance, one of mine, all he wanted to do was party with all of his friends, and he wanted me to be that party animal. But really, that just wasn’t me and he was just immature.
Tell us something people have been wrong about with who you are.
I’ve had a lot of people assume that I’m faking my mental health and my gender/sexuality for attention. They would tell me that I have no reason to feel how I do.
We hear you’re dropping an EP soon. Lyrically, do the songs share an overall concept, or is each one a little time capsule?
I feel like all the songs on the EP have their own concepts and ideas. I’m not huge on break up and love songs actually. I like exploring other themes.
What would you say the biggest change in perspective has been from when you first released music to now?
I’ve realized how much hard work the artists I love so much do. And I have a new level of appreciation for the music I love.
What would you say to yourself when you debuted your first song if you could go back in time?
You’re a brand-new artist. People won’t like it. You are your biggest critic, and you will end up not liking it either. And that’s okay. Your art will start coming together later.
What would you remind your future self of if you found yourself looking back at this article down the line?
Just look at how far I’ve come probably. Remind myself of all the work I’ve done to get where I’m at and why I’ve earned it.

Is there a specific venue you have always dreamed of performing at?
It’s not really a dream venue that I have so much as a dream festival. Unfortunately, though, they no longer do Warped Tour, ha-ha.
What is a song that you have played on repeat so many times that you think its influence made its way into your project?
Misery Business by Paramore. I think that influences from that song have definitely seeped into this project.
The track list for the EP is nowhere to be found yet. Can you share it with us?

3) Don’t Lose Yourself

Same with the name of the EP, can you share that with us too?
