You’ve been performing since you were four years old—what was the moment you knew you wanted to pursue entertainment as a career?
When I was a kid my sister was always obsessed with Hannah Montana which made me grow to become obsessed with Hannah Montana as well. I think she was a good role model for me as a kid because her character was so motivated and wanted the separation between having a normal life, and devoting time to a career that’s her passion. I think I resemble a Hannah Montana in a way when it comes to her dedication and her passion for music. Ever since I was a kid I knew I wanted to do this as it has been a huge dream of mine not only to do music as a hobby but to also pursue it as a career in that industry.
Being the lead singer and host of Mini Pop Kids must have been an incredible experience. What was the most memorable part of that journey for you?
Being one of the lead singers of the Mini Pop Kids was such a great opportunity for me and an opportunity that most kids don’t ever get to experience. I don’t know if I would be able to narrow it down to one memorable part, as I enjoyed every aspect of the job. My favorite memories were going on tour and meeting the people that were supporting us. Also, being able to work on camera and covering all aspects of the entertainment industry, not just music but acting, modeling, etc. Going back to being inspired by Hannah Montana as a kid, I felt like my dreams were coming true being able to have 50% of my life at school and then the other 50% as an artist in the group. Most of all, I would say giving back to our fans as would take time to visit Children’s hospitals and hangout/sing with the kids that don’t get to have the opportunity to see us at our shows. It was such a special moment to see the smiles and joy we brought to them when we stepped into the room.
Your music career is taking off with producer Andrew Lane. How would you describe your sound, and what do you want fans to take away from your music?
One of the individuals I’m most thankful for in my career is Andrew Lane. When I met Drew, I was at a point in my career where my I already moved on from being a Mini Pop Kid, and I was looking to where I wanted to go next with my career in music. I honestly felt kind of lost because I moved to LA, and I’m in an environment where I didn’t really have much guidance or know many people in the industry here yet. I actually found Andrew on Instagram because I saw he worked with some amazing artists, so I decided to DM him and put myself out there. Ever since the first day I went to the studio, we’ve just been grinding music and really giving it my all to pursue this. I would describe my sound as bright and uplifting, and honestly even therapeutic because I feel like the lyrics can really resonate with people. Every song I write is about a situation that I’ve experienced, but I try to encourage my listeners to choose a situation that is similar to the song lyrics so they can connect to the song on their own level. It holds a special place within them, and it’s something they can relate to when they hear my song.

You have a strong social media presence with a dedicated following. How do you approach connecting with your fans online while staying true to yourself?
I’m very thankful that I have a dedicated following and a strong social media presence. Ever since I started social media, I’ve always wanted to be the most authentic version of myself that I can be. I know as a viewer, I get frustrated when I see people on the internet not being authentic, so I try my best to give my viewers the most authentic version of me. I also try and put myself in my viewer’s shoes and take a step back to look at everything I post and try and see it from their perspective to make sure that everything I put out is my real self.
Your music has been featured in The Best You Can — how does it feel to have your work recognized in different mediums beyond just performing on stage?
This is by far probably one of the best projects I’ve been able to work on. I’ve been acting ever since I was a kid, but I took a break once I got hired as a Mini Pop Kid and realized I wanted to focus on music. I never ever wanted to drop acting or any sort of work in that part of the entertainment industry. Working alongside Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick was an honor, and I’m extremely thankful for this experience. The producers and all the crew were amazing to work with, they were so kind and uplifting. I cannot wait for the release of this movie to come out and for everyone to see all the hard work that was put into it.

If you could collaborate with any artist, past or present, who would it be and why?
If I could collaborate with any artist, it would probably be Tame Impala because I have so much respect for everything he does in the music industry. Not only does he sing, but he knows all aspects of music, writing, producing, etc. Most of the songs that we all know, he’s had involvement in albums like Travis Scott’s and many more. If I had to choose one more artist, it would be Ariana Grande. She’s what inspired me for pretty much everything that I’ve done in the music industry. She has gone through a lot and has accomplished so much. Even though she’s one of the biggest pop stars of the century, she was just in the movie Wicked, and involves herself in all areas of the entertainment industry, which is my goal as well.

You’ve also been involved in helping LA fire victims and advocating for animal welfare. Can you tell us more about your work in these areas?
My heart & prayers go out to all the families and First Responders affected by the recent fires in LA. I will be donating a % of ticket sales from my Live performance at The Mint LA on Feb 25th to MusiCares IG @musiCares. A non-profit organization that’s part of the Recording Academy, helping families from the Los Angeles wildfires by providing financial assistance, mental health resources and support groups. I will also be donating a % of streaming royalties to Best Friends Animal Society – a non-profit organization working to help families with pets who have been displaced by the fires.
